Before the first message

A clearer brief. A better start.

Planning painting, garden care or handyman work in Cape Town? A few useful details help David understand your project and help you compare quotes for the same work.

01 · Show the whole picture

What to send with your enquiry

A wide view and a close-up

Show the room, wall, garden or fitting in context, then add a close-up of the part needing attention. A photograph of access is useful for narrow gates, stairs or work above normal reach.

Size, location and timing

Include your suburb, approximate measurements or garden size, and when someone can provide access. Mention a move-in date or other deadline so David can confirm whether the timing is workable.

Your list, in priority order

Separate each task and describe the result you want. For example: repaint the bedroom walls; attend to the loose fitting; tidy the hedge and border. Point out the most important item first.

Materials and property details

Tell David about parts or paint you already have, belongings that need protection, pets and access arrangements. Agree which tasks are suitable before buying more materials.

02 · Define the job

What changes from one service to another?

03 · Compare the same work

Look beyond the total price.

Good Fellas does not publish a fixed price list. David needs to understand your job before confirming the scope and price. When comparing offers, check that they cover the same things.

Questions to ask before accepting a home-service quote
CheckAsk for clarity on
Work includedWhich rooms, surfaces, fittings or garden areas are covered? Which tasks are outside the quote?
PreparationWhat needs to happen before painting or fitting begins? Is related preparation included?
Materials and partsWho supplies them, what has been agreed and are those costs part of the total?
Access and timingWhen can the work start, who provides access and how will timing changes be discussed?
Protection and cleanupHow will belongings be protected? Who handles cleanup, packaging and garden cuttings?
Changes and paymentWhat is the agreed payment arrangement? How will additional tasks or costs be approved before work continues?

04 · Keep the agreement clear

Confirm the details before work starts.

Keep a written record of the accepted tasks, materials, price and access arrangements. If the scope changes, discuss and agree the change before the additional work begins. Arrange who will walk through the completed job list with David.

Photographs start the conversation; they may not show everything needed for a confirmed quote. Ask David whether a visit or additional information is needed, and confirm any visit charge in advance.
